There have been many Box Kart events for Cubs over the years which are mainly District or County. The Supreme is the only one that is totally open to ANY Cub Pack in the world.

At the Supreme only traditional Box Karts are allowed to compete . This means the chassis is made from wood only with four pushchair type wheels and are steered by a rope on a pivot point axle. (More building rules on this site).

It has to date been host to 20 different Counties in England and packs have also come from Northern Ireland, Wales & Scotland.

Okay lets see what the leaders/ parents but most of all the Cubs think about the Supreme.

2021 Supreme review from 10th Worthing (Newbies)

The red lights started flashing with the warning siren as the karts gently roll up to the starting line. The yellow lights flash, the grip tightens on the push handles, and the driver’s hands squeeze the rope ready for the horn to sound and the green light. Like a shot the karts rocket off the line, the parents roar in support of their team’s kart. Round the first corner and the inside team build a gap on the other team. Through to the next straight and into the next corner as then the gap narrows as the team are now in the outside lane. Within seconds the karts are hurtling towards the chequered flag and the finish line.

This was our first year at the Supreme championships and ‘Blade Runner’ ran amazingly well throughout. Our Cubs had split into 2 teams, the organisers had arranged to lend us a kart, and the Cubs worked out their teams for the day. Drivers and engines and how they would change or stay the same for each race.

The atmosphere was electric all day. The teams with their ‘pit crews’, flags, and supporting parents made this a day that no cub or leader would forget. The circuit was fast, the competition was fierce but the racing was amazing.

The Supreme is an amazing event with teams from all parts of the UK. We will definitely be back next year. Andy Cooper 10th Worthing

Fast paced and adrenaline filled, the day offers the Cubs such a fantastic experience. Friends are made from around the UK & beyond and loads of badge boxes are ticked. A real Akela’s dream!! Heidi Robertson 1st Shirenewton, Monmouthshire ,Wales .

Hi Stephen & Amanda, Many thanks for a truly AWESOME day ! In the words of my Cubs, it will be a day that will be remembered for a long time. You made us feel very welcome and I learnt a lot throughout the day. We will be back in force next year. You asked for good or bad criticism, how can anyone criticise the Supreme after seeing what goes into it?? This event is awesome for cub scouts, and this is what kids should be doing in scouting.   Once again Stephen many thanks from my team and cubs . Best wishes Graham Payne 1st Woodmansterne.

Dear Stephen and Amanda

Congratulations to you and all the team who organised the Supreme Box Kart Championships at Goodwood yesterday.

My husband and I were again very impressed by the terrific atmosphere surrounding the event and the sheer enjoyment that the cubs, their leaders and all the supporters were experiencing.

It was great to see so many young people having such a good time and entering into the spirit of the competition.

I enjoyed meeting young people and leaders especially those such as the teams from Barnstable and Northern Ireland who had travelled such a long way to take part.

I know what a tremendous amount of organisation and hard work goes into planning such a large event beforehand and carrying it out on the day, but at least you didn’t have to stay up until 3am to welcome the team from12th Bangor this year.

I only hope that the rain in the afternoon didn’t cause too many problems for you.

Congratulations on a great day and yet again giving what I am sure will be long lasting memories for all those who took part.   The word is obviously spreading – who knows how many will apply for the ‘Supreme’ next year and how long the waiting list will be…….

Well done. Yours sincerely Rachel Hamond Chairman West Sussex Scouts..

Hello Stephen and Amanda,

On behalf of the District and County, I would like to congratulate you both on the excellent organisation of the Kart racing. It was also good to see competition from way outside the District, I think next year you will have a lot more from outside once the word gets around.

A good job well done, Regards Tony.

Hi Stephen

Many many thanks for all your effort in organising today’s event. I have been asked by leaders and parents to pass on their thanks to you and your team for making it such a fun day.

All the best

Katrina

The Supreme is a really well organised and slick event. I’m sure all of the boys and girls who participated, their leaders and their parents will have gone away with memories that will rank up there with the top moments of their lives. Well done to both of you and the army of volunteers who made it happen. Thank you for a really great day. Best wishes, Greg Walker Yapton Cubs
